Sarah's Secret, a poignant and often humorous story, is about a strong and intelligent woman's frustrations with her still-separated boyfried Jonathan and her loss of her sense of self. Sarah holds on while Jonathan repeatedly postpones his divorce, swearing that it will happen. His vague promises feed her dream that they will marry and have a family and when he accepts a new job in Vermont, Sarah moves there too, buys an hold house in town, and opens a boutique. Eventually, Sarah presses Jonathan for a commitment, precipitating a crisis in the delicate balance of their affair.
